BTL-COP is a Horizon Europe research and innovation project working to strengthen trust, leadership, and cooperation between communities and police across Europe.
The project responds to the growing challenges of poverty-fuelled and aporophobia-related crime, recognising that effective prevention and investigation depend not only on technology and enforcement, but also on relationships, dialogue, and shared understanding.
BTL-COP brings together police authorities, universities, research organisations, civil society actors, and innovation partners to co-design and test practical, trust-based approaches to community policing. Through pilots, tools, training, and shared learning, the project supports police services in adapting to complex social realities while fostering safer, more inclusive communities.
At the heart of BTL-COP is a commitment to:
- evidence-based practice,
- community participation,
- cross-sector collaboration,
- and long-term impact beyond the project’s lifetime.
