Crowdhelix Security Helix

The Security Helix is an international online community hosted on the Crowdhelix platform. It brings together experts and organisations working on issues related to community safety, crime prevention, and public security.

During the BTL-COP project, the Security Helix will serve as a space where researchers, police authorities, policymakers, civil society organisations, and innovators can connect, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.

The community already includes hundreds of experts from organisations across Europe and beyond, covering areas such as crime prevention, public safety, social cohesion, and security innovation.

What the Security Helix does

The Security Helix supports the BTL-COP project by:

  • connecting people and organisations working on similar challenges,
  • sharing knowledge, experience, and good practices,
  • helping project results reach a wider audience,
  • supporting collaboration between research, practice, and policy.

It also helps link BTL-COP with other European initiatives and related projects, encouraging cooperation rather than working in isolation.

Who is involved?

The Security Helix brings together a wide range of participants, including:

  • BTL-COP project partners,
  • researchers and academic organisations,
  • police authorities and public administrations,
  • policymakers at local, national, and European levels,
  • civil society organisations and community actors,
  • technology providers and industry experts,
  • participants from other European and international projects.

This diversity helps ensure that discussions reflect real-world needs and multiple perspectives.

Supporting policy and long-term impact

Policymakers and public authorities are invited to take part in the Security Helix to:

  • share perspectives on policy needs,
  • provide feedback on project insights,
  • help translate learning into practical and policy-relevant outcomes.

The Security Helix plays an important role in supporting the long-term impact of BTL-COP beyond the project’s lifetime.

Sustainability beyond the project

Crowdhelix is committed to maintaining the Security Helix for at least two years after the project ends.
After the project:

  • the Security Helix will remain active on the Crowdhelix platform,
  • participants who joined during the project will keep free access to their accounts,
  • organisations will have the option to become full members of the wider Crowdhelix network.

A member of the community will be invited to take on a leadership role for the Helix, with continued support from the Crowdhelix team, helping ensure continuity and growth.

Why it matters

The Security Helix helps ensure that the ideas, tools, and lessons from BTL-COP:

  • reach the right audiences,
  • connect with real-world practice,
  • and continue to support safer, more inclusive communities across Europe.
